Toyota and VETC Collaborate to Boost Takata Airbag Recall Program

Toyota Vietnam has strengthened its collaboration with VETC, Vietnam's electronic toll collection (ETC) operator, to advance its recall program for Takata airbags. This initiative aims to ensure that information reaches the correct users and that potentially risky parts are rectified. The recall campaign is crucial for ensuring vehicle safety, especially concerning Takata airbags which have a history of triggering large-scale recalls. Toyota Vietnam is seeking VETC's cooperation to provide swift and accurate information to owners of affected vehicles, facilitating a smooth inspection and replacement process. Toyota Vietnam is also conducting a technical recall for approximately 700 units of the Land Cruiser 300 model in Vietnam to update its automatic transmission control software. The company has participated in the Vietnam International Supporting Industry and Manufacturing Exhibition (VIMEXPO), demonstrating its contribution to the domestic economy. Furthermore, Toyota Vietnam has contributed nearly US$500 million to the state budget, positioning it as a key player in Vietnam's economic growth. Meanwhile, VETC has set a Vietnam record for nationwide automotive rescue services and is enhancing customer service by expanding free rescue services within a 20 km radius across the northern region. The company operates ETC systems on four expressways, contributing to the modernization of transportation infrastructure. This collaboration between Toyota and VETC aligns with the Vietnamese government's efforts to strengthen automotive safety standards and customer protection. As Vietnam experiences rapid economic growth, it is also enhancing its infrastructure and regulatory framework, benefiting the automotive industry.
