Vietnam Adopts Action Programme for Environmental Protection and Climate Resilience

The Vietnamese government has adopted a comprehensive action programme aimed at strengthening environmental protection and enhancing climate change resilience. This initiative seeks to translate the Party's orientations into concrete actions, focusing on reinforcing environmental governance, improving climate adaptability, and promoting a green, circular, and low-carbon economy. The programme will serve as the foundation for ministries, sectors, and localities to formulate their implementation plans for the period of 2026–2030, with a strategic vision extending to 2045. Vietnam has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, but this has also brought challenges related to environmental issues and the impacts of climate change. Particularly in the agricultural and industrial sectors, transitioning to sustainable growth models is becoming increasingly urgent. The concept of a circular economy, which aims for efficient resource utilization and waste reduction, is being embraced by Vietnam's industries. Efforts in the agricultural sector are also underway, evidenced by seminars on the circular economy being held in Hanoi. Under its one-party system, Vietnam tends to see swift policy implementation. The adoption of this action programme underscores the government's commitment to addressing environmental concerns as a national priority, guided by the Party. Balancing economic growth with environmental protection is a critical challenge for Vietnam, attracting considerable attention from the international community.
