Chiang Rai High School Student Badly Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident

CHIANG RAI – A high school student was left in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident on a busy road in Huai Sak district on Wednesday afternoon, September 2, 2026. The incident occurred around 3:45 PM, a time when students are typically commuting home from school. The accident involved an orange Ford Ranger that executed a sudden and dangerous U-turn across traffic, directly cutting off a young male student on his motorcycle. The student, from Huai Sak Wittayakom School, was unable to avoid a collision and was severely injured. Instead of stopping to render aid, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene immediately after the crash. However, three quick-thinking staff members from the nearby Provincial Electricity Authority office – Khomsan Srifan, Kritsada Tathi, and Jitbun Kantiya – rushed to the student's aid.
