Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery sector achieved $49.3 billion in exports from January to August this year, recording a trade surplus of $14.25 billion. During this period, the sector maintained steady growth. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the government prioritizes the expansion of agricultural exports as a driver of economic growth. Specifically, agricultural products, forest products, and fisheries are key export items for Vietnam, with efforts focused on strengthening their competitiveness in the international market. For the remaining four months of the year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will concentrate on implementing specific solutions to achieve and exceed all 15 planned annual targets. This is believed to include resolving export bottlenecks and strengthening the production system in line with international market demand. Vietnam's economy has experienced rapid growth in recent years, supported by global moves to diversify supply chains amidst complex relations with China, and the development of domestic manufacturing and service industries. Expanding agro-forestry-fishery exports is one of the crucial pillars supporting this economic growth. The government is also exploring concrete measures to achieve export revenues of $100 billion, with future challenges including the transition to sustainable agriculture, the development of high-value-added products, and the enhancement of brand power.
