Vietnam's 500-Day Operation Collects 1,563 Martyr Remains, Discovers 9 Mass Graves

According to the Office of the National Steering Committee for Search, Collection, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains, the ongoing '500-Day Operation' has so far collected 1,563 sets of martyrs' remains and discovered nine mass graves. This operation aims to identify and repatriate the remains of soldiers who have been missing for many years. The '500-Day Operation' is accelerating the identification of remains by utilizing modern DNA testing technologies. Efforts are also underway to digitize and link related data to expedite the identification and repatriation process. The government is actively appealing to the public for information regarding martyrs. This initiative is a significant undertaking to honor the sacrifices of soldiers lost in past conflicts, including the Vietnam War, and to bring peace to their families.
