According to the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia welcomed 1.54 million international visitors from January to May 2026, a 47.8% decrease from 2.95 million during the same period in 2025. Thourn Sinan, president of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter (PATACC), stated that while introducing new tourism strategies is a positive step, authorities and stakeholders must also strengthen law enforcement, diversify tourism products beyond Angkor beyond Siem Reap, and expand international tourism promotion efforts. He noted that nighttime temple tours offer an attractive new option for visitors. These efforts coincide with a four-month trial of a visa-free policy for Chinese tourists.
