Chinese Actor Cheng Lei Touched by Letter from Deaf and Mute Fan in Jakarta
Chinese actor Cheng Lei expressed deep emotion after reading a letter from a fan with hearing and speech impairments during a meet-and-greet event in Jakarta. Attending as a global ambassador for iQIYI, he conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to connect with fans and hoped to revisit Indonesia.
Chinese actor Cheng Lei, also known as Ryan Cheng, admitted to being deeply touched after reading a letter from a fan with hearing and speech impairments during a meet-and-greet event held at Gandaria City Mall in South Jakarta on Saturday, September 13. Cheng Lei attended the event as a global ambassador for iQIYI. During a fan letter reading session, he received a special message from one of his fans who could not hear or speak. "This letter certainly represents a part of it. Thank you for providing a platform and a bridge so that we can meet today. And one of the letters is from a fan who cannot hear and speak," he said, as quoted by Antara. The actor expressed that the message from the fan deeply moved him. "I feel very touched. Through the eyes, I am in your eyes. Thank you very much," he said. He also conveyed his gratitude to all fans who have supported his works and attended the event in person, adding, "I love you all. Thank you so much." This visit to Jakarta marked Cheng Lei's first trip to Indonesia. Towards the end of the event, he expressed his hope to return and explore more places. "From the beginning it was very festive, and in the middle, the atmosphere became even more lively. The time is not too long, but hopefully, next time we can explore more of Indonesia," he stated. Born in Guangdong, China, on December 18, 1993, Cheng Lei gained recognition for his roles in "A Familiar Stranger" (2022) and "My Journey to You" (2023).
