Indonesia and Thailand Ink Strategic Partnership Roadmap and Education MoU

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul witnessed the signing of several cooperation documents between Indonesia and Thailand at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). The signing was a concrete outcome of PM Anutin's official visit to Indonesia, reaffirming the commitment of both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership across various sectors. The first document, the Roadmap on Strategic Partnership Between Indonesia and Thailand 2026–2030, was signed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow. This roadmap will serve as a joint guide for both countries in enhancing their strategic partnership over the next five years. Following this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Education was exchanged between the Indonesian Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, and the Thai Minister of Education, Prasert Jantararuangtong. This understanding lays the foundation for bilateral cooperation in developing the education sector and improving the quality of human resources. President Prabowo emphasized that the bilateral meeting yielded tangible achievements that will bolster future relations. Beyond intergovernmental cooperation, he welcomed the commitment from the private sector to further expand collaborations. "We also welcome the commitment to cooperation and investment from the private sector, namely the MoU between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and TransNusa in the fields of tourism and connectivity, and the MoU between Bio-Axel and Pro-Konsilium regarding organic waste processing projects," Prabowo stated. He expressed his appreciation for PM Anutin's official visit and voiced optimism for the future of increasingly close Indonesia-Thailand relations. "Your Excellency Prime Minister Anutin, once again I thank you for your visit, for our shared commitment to strengthening the relationship between our two countries. I am confident that Indonesia and Thailand will continue to ensure that this strategic partnership brings tangible benefits to the prosperity of our peoples," Prabowo concluded.
