SRF to continue demanding NUCC, SCEF to mediate as neutral and impartial force between conflicting parties

Mizzima. The Student Revolution Force (SRF) has stated that it will continue to demand a halt to armed violence and a negotiated settlement. Ma Thuthu Khine, spokesperson for the SRF, told Mizzima that they will continue to demand that the NUCC or SCEF mediate between the conflicting parties as a neutral and impartial force. There is tension in Sagaing Region, Minkin Township, where 16 people, including SRF Chairman Ko San Tin Htun, soldiers, and family members, have been arrested by the People's Defence Force (PDF) and Pa-O People's Defence Force (Pao-PDF) under the National Unity Government (NUG) through armed force. Furthermore, on May 27, one of the SRF's strategic front bases, closest to the military junta, was raided by the Pao-PDF, and weapons and ammunition were seized. Even in a situation where its own base was seized and front-line weapons were confiscated, the SRF stated that it would not retaliate militarily and would seek a solution through political means to avoid bloodshed among revolutionary forces. Why was Chairman Ko San Tin Htun arrested after being given security assurances? What are the potential security implications for the ground resistance and local people after weapons were seized near the military junta's front lines?
