The operation, conducted on September 11 near border pillars 53 and 54 in the Chandel district of Manipur state, led to the discovery of secretly stored weapons and ammunition. The Assam Rifles team, comprising 22 members, conducted thorough searches in the vicinity and discovered a hidden box near border pillar 54 at 6:30 AM on September 12. Inside the box, three homemade guns, six smoothbore rifles, three carbines, two grenade launchers, two hand grenades, two improvised explosive devices, three carbine magazines, and five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition were found. The Assam Rifles stated that the recovery of weapons and ammunition in such sensitive border areas highlights the timely intelligence received and the swift operational response. The unit further stated that the operation preempted potential illegal activities and further strengthened security along the India-Myanmar border in the Chandel district.
