Dong Nai Province, located in southeastern Vietnam, has established a special steering committee to oversee land acquisition, compensation, and resettlement support as part of its push for large-scale infrastructure development. On July 14, the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee announced the decision to form the Steering Committee for Compensation, Land Clearance, and Resettlement Support in Dong Nai City. The committee comprises 28 members, led by Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, as standing deputy head. Other deputy heads include Huynh Thi Hang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and Thai Bao, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Party Organization Committee. Members consist of members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and leaders from relevant departments and sectors. The committee's mandate includes directing, urging, and inspecting the implementation of land recovery, compensation, support, and resettlement. It is tasked with promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles during project execution, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and timelines, and facilitating the stable resettlement of affected residents while handing over land for key projects. The committee will dissolve upon completion of its mission. At the committee's inaugural meeting on the same afternoon, Mr. Duc, the committee head, urged relevant units to establish progress-tracking systems for all key projects, clearly defining each step, responsibility, and deadline. He also called for a concentrated effort to accelerate compensation and land clearance for major transport projects, particularly those connecting to Long Thanh Airport. Mr. Duc further demanded that committee members, departmental leaders, and local authorities engage with a decisive and proactive spirit to ensure project timelines and the legitimate rights and interests of the people are upheld. Dong Nai Province is currently considered a major construction site for the entire country, facing the significant task of land clearance. The province is implementing compensation and land clearance for 319 projects, including 15 priority projects that require clearing thousands of hectares. Among these are large-scale projects such as the construction of the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien Metro line extension to the new administrative center and Long Thanh Airport; the western section of the North-South expressway (Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh); and Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City.
