Philippine Spot Electricity Prices Surge in May Amid Thin Supply Margin

Spot electricity market prices in the Philippines surged by 38.5% in May to P7.79 per kilowatt-hour, according to the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP). The price hike was attributed to increased demand coupled with a thin power supply margin due to forced outages of power plants.
