Nearly 1 Ton of Suspected African Swine Fever Pork Transferred for Investigation in Hung Yen

Nearly 1 ton of suspected African Swine Fever (ASF) infected pork has been seized by authorities in Hung Yen province, Vietnam. Seven out of nine tested samples were confirmed positive for the ASF virus, and the case has been transferred to investigative authorities. The domestic market management and development department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the seized pork was from sick and dead animals and emitted a foul odor. This incident highlights renewed concerns about food safety among the public. ASF outbreaks continue to occur in Vietnam, making the sanitary management of meat distribution and measures against fraudulent practices an urgent issue. In the past, several cases of smuggling and selling diseased pork have been reported, prompting authorities to implement strict monitoring systems.
