Vietnam's BIDV Sees Assets Rise Amid Deposit Decline and Funding Pressure

BIDV, Vietnam's largest bank by assets, reported a record high in total assets for Q1 2026, despite a 3.7% decline in customer deposits. As loan growth continues, the bank is increasing debt issuance to manage liquidity. While profits rose 16% year-on-year, rising funding costs remain a key challenge for the institution.
