Vietnam Strengthens Ties with Japanese Partners, Focusing on Economic and Cultural Exchange

Vietnam is focusing on strengthening cooperation in various fields to further develop its comprehensive strategic partnership with Japan, aiming to deepen collaboration in economy, trade, investment, science and technology, and cultural exchange. The country seeks to move bilateral relations into a new phase by enhancing these areas. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam, along with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, share the recognition that local cooperation is a crucial pillar in Vietnam-Japan relations. This is positioned as a practical and effective channel for translating strategic commitments made by the two countries' high-ranking leaders into concrete projects. Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung also emphasized that locality-to-locality cooperation serves as an effective conduit for implementing agreements and strengthening connectivity and people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Japan. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung called on Japanese businesses to continue trusting and choosing Vietnam as a long-term investment destination, expand their operations, and work more closely with Vietnamese partners to fully tap the substantial potential for cooperation between the two economies. This reflects Vietnam's view of foreign direct investment as a key driver for its continued economic growth. Furthermore, Vietnam emphasizes leveraging the new pillar of science and technology collaboration with Japan. National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man urged the Vietnam Innovation Network and experts in the Republic of Korea (RoK) to share and transfer knowledge and international experience, particularly the RoK's expertise in developing, mastering, and commercializing technology. This suggests Vietnam's ambition to advance its economy through technological innovation. In addition to strengthening ties with Japan, Vietnam is actively engaging in diplomatic activities with countries such as Russia, France, the Republic of Korea (RoK), and Mongolia to foster political trust and promote substantive and effective cooperation. These diplomatic efforts aim to create an external environment conducive to Vietnam's national development and facilitate the mobilization of international resources.
