A video circulating on Facebook claiming President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran distributed aid via WhatsApp has been debunked by Liputan6.com as AI-generated misinformation. The audio in the video was found to be 98.8% AI-generated.
Liputan6.com's fact-checking division has investigated a video circulating on social media, claiming that President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran are distributing aid through WhatsApp. This video was posted on August 1, 2026, by a Facebook account. The video shows President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran standing side-by-side in white shirts. President Prabowo is heard saying, "This Saturday, the first of August, God willing, I will provide assistance to the first 500 fastest registrants. Prepare your application documents and register immediately." The video includes a caption stating, "Clarification from Mr. Prabowo and Mr. Gibran regarding grant fund assistance." It also displays a WhatsApp number, and the poster urges viewers to register by contacting the provided number. However, Liputan6.com's investigation revealed that this video is AI-generated misinformation. Analysis using AI detection tools indicated that the video itself is 0.1% AI-generated, while the audio is 98.8% AI-generated. The possibility of deepfake was also identified at 0.2%. Furthermore, it was confirmed that this video is identical to footage from April 24, 2024, when Prabowo and Gibran were officially declared President-elect and Vice President-elect by the General Election Commission (KPU). Liputan6.com has been conducting fact-checking activities since 2018 to combat such misinformation and is a member of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).
