Prabowo Stresses Good Indonesia-Malaysia Ties, Urges Against Exaggerating Disputes

President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that Indonesia and Malaysia's relations are progressing well. Prabowo urged that matters potentially disrupting relations between the two countries should not be exaggerated into problems. This statement was made by Prabowo after his meeting with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Friday (18/9/2026). Prabowo stated that his meeting with Zahid discussed cooperation in several fields. "We also discussed many other matters quite well, including ideas for cooperation in the halal industry sector and others," said Prabowo. With the many collaborations established, he emphasized that the relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia is running very well. Therefore, there is no need to exaggerate minor issues. "I think our relationship with Malaysia is very good; we should ensure that things that might disturb us do not become issues that are exaggerated," he remarked. Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia and Malaysia are "brotherly nations" and that the two countries must cooperate and maintain their excellent relationship.
