Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of Thailand held discussions with senior executives from three leading US financial institutions and investment funds: Bank of America, Microsoft, and PIMCO. During these meetings, the Prime Minister emphasized the government's approach to creating an investment-conducive environment and expressed enthusiasm for exchanging views with the executives. The President of International Business at Bank of America commended the Thai government's policies, noting their alignment with future global development trends, particularly in promoting AI, digital technology, and the transition to clean energy. The executive announced plans to visit Thailand next month to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, which will be hosted in Thailand. Discussions with Microsoft executives focused on enhancing cooperation in digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, workforce development, and cybersecurity. These efforts aim to support Thailand's goal of becoming a regional hub for the digital economy and AI. The Prime Minister also thanked Microsoft for its contribution to Thailand's accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which is expected to elevate standards, regulations, productivity, and competitiveness, enabling Thai businesses to better integrate into global supply chains and compete effectively in the digital economy. In discussions with PIMCO executives, perspectives were exchanged on the global economic and financial situation, capital flow trends, and key factors that global institutional investors consider when making investment decisions. The Prime Minister stated that insights and perspectives from global investors would be beneficial for Thailand in tracking international economic and financial market trends, as well as in developing policies and an investment environment that can remain competitive and meet investor needs in the long term. Ekaphop Pianpiset, the Government Spokesperson, stated, "The discussions between the Prime Minister and the three leading US financial institutions signal Thailand's readiness to welcome capital and cooperation from international investors. This creates opportunities for quality capital to support economic growth, infrastructure development, and industries with potential.
