Public rental housing to be implemented in areas with housing shortages

The government is prioritizing the implementation of public rental housing in areas with a high demand for housing, according to Deputy Minister U Myo Myint of the Ministry of Construction. This statement was made in response to a star question posed by U Thet Naing Oo, a Member of Parliament for the Bhamo constituency, during the 32nd day of the 3rd regular session of the 3rd Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, held on July 30. U Thet Naing Oo had inquired whether there were plans to construct government rental housing. In response to this question, Deputy Minister U Myo Myint of the Ministry of Construction stated that public rental housing will continue to be implemented in Yangon, Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw, depending on the availability of funds. He added that regional and state governments can further implement public rental housing by collecting surveys on the housing needs of local residents and proceeding based on land availability and budget allocations in areas with demand. The Ministry of Construction aims to construct and provide suitable and good housing for urban residents and is implementing public rental housing for low-income individuals. Furthermore, public rental housing projects are being implemented under the supervision of the Union Ministry in Yangon, Mandalay, and Nay Pyi Taw, which are densely populated areas with significant housing needs. Deputy Minister U Myo Myint of the Ministry of Construction stated that regional and state governments are implementing public rental housing in major cities within their respective regions based on land availability and annual budget allocations.
