Cambodia's Ministry of Health Directs Improvement in Healthcare Service Quality

On the afternoon of Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Ministry of Health headquarters, Minister of Health Prof. Chheang Ra led a meeting with leadership and technical officials to further promote the quality and efficiency of work implementation in the health sector. During the meeting, the Minister instructed all levels of leadership to continue paying attention and taking responsibility for their respective duties to produce results for the benefit of public health. Prof. Chheang Ra highlighted the activities to be implemented to achieve the government's policies, focusing on ensuring the quality of healthcare human resources. This includes training, licensing, defining the scope of professional practice, continuous professional development, and regular competency assessments to ensure that healthcare professionals possess appropriate skills and qualifications. The responsible leadership was urged to continue ensuring 24-hour healthcare service provision, deploying competent resources to areas with demand, and strengthening the quality and safety management system for medicines, medical equipment, and cosmetics. This encompasses the entire process from production and import, registration, storage, distribution, to post-market surveillance. Furthermore, the Minister instructed the continuous improvement of work procedures to be clearer and more efficient, strengthening the implementation of laws in accordance with legal provisions, and the responsibility of leadership in decision-making.
