Vietnam Advances Social Welfare, Safety Measures, and Infrastructure Development Across Regions

Various regions across Vietnam are advancing social welfare improvements, enhanced safety measures, and infrastructure development to foster regional economic growth. In Dak Lak Province, located in the Central Highlands, a health management support plan for contributors to the Vietnamese revolution, particularly war invalids, veterans, martyrs' families, and revolutionary contributors, has been established. The plan aims to ensure 100% of contributors receive free health check-ups and medical care, and that living "Mothers of Vietnam" receive a monthly allowance of at least VND 1 million. Support for housing construction and repair, as well as financial assistance during difficult times, is also included. In Da Nang City, on the central coast, a solemn ceremony was held on July 14 to commemorate and bury five sets of remains of martyrs discovered in the "Da Sap Cave." This cave was historically a crucial supply point during the anti-American resistance war. Historical records and witnesses indicate that many soldiers were killed in fierce bombings in this area in 1969. Since 2002, the remains collection team has gathered and identified over 200 sets of remains. In Gia Lai Province, also in the Central Highlands, ensuring fire and explosion safety for fishing vessels has become a pressing issue. Following two recent fishing vessel fires that caused extensive property damage, the Provincial People's Committee has instructed relevant agencies to implement urgent measures to minimize the risk of fires and explosions at ports, storm shelters, and vessel mooring areas. The police are tasked with overseeing compliance with fire safety regulations and conducting necessary training exercises. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will review safety standards at fishing ports and establish emergency response systems. In Quang Ngai Province, on the central coast, efforts are underway to strengthen the connectivity of the western region's transportation infrastructure. The "Thach An Bridge," built with an investment of VND 150 billion, has opened, facilitating easier passage for residents separated by the river for generations. This development enhances connectivity with the province's east-west arterial road, expected to boost regional logistics and economic activities. In Lam Dong Province, in the Central Highlands, over the first six months of the year, 1,819 violations related to smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods were detected, resulting in fines exceeding VND 23.8 billion. Given the increasingly sophisticated methods employed online, the province plans to intensify monitoring on social media and e-commerce platforms in the latter half of the year. The establishment of a unified data system and reporting software for efficient information sharing from the commune to the provincial level has also been proposed. These initiatives are positioned as part of the state's strategy, under the one-party system of the Communist Party of Vietnam, to ensure stability and improve citizens' lives while pursuing sustainable economic growth. Particularly in relation to China, while maintaining economic interdependence, domestic social infrastructure development is seen as crucial amidst security concerns and Vietnam's pursuit of an independent foreign policy.
