Fuel Subsidies for Farmers, Fisherfolk to Begin Amid El Niño Threat

The Department of Agriculture (DA) announced that fuel subsidies for farmers and fisherfolk will soon be distributed as a measure against drought and extreme heat caused by the El Niño phenomenon. Distribution to mechanized farmers is expected from late October to November, while registered fisherfolk will receive assistance this week. This subsidy is part of the P6.2 billion Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program.
