Cambodia Maintains Competitiveness Through Tripartite Mechanism Over Three Years, Boosting Garment Sector Growth and Creating Hundreds of Thousands of Jobs
Cambodian Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, Heng Sour, announced that smooth negotiations through the tripartite mechanism over the past three years have helped maintain the country's competitiveness. This has led to an increase in garment factories to 562, creating new jobs for approximately 380,000 people, with nearly $1 billion flowing into citizens' pockets annually.
Phnom Penh: On September 14, 2026, His Excellency Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, affirmed that thanks to the smooth negotiations over the past three years through the tripartite mechanism, Cambodia has maintained its regional competitiveness, leading to a growth of 562 garment factories and the creation of new jobs for approximately over 380,000 citizens, injecting nearly $1 billion annually into the pockets of the people. It should be noted that in addition to the growth in the garment sector over the past three years, Cambodia has also seen growth in approximately over 6,896 other enterprises, creating jobs for about 299,000 citizens.
