Cambodia Strengthens Measures Against Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking

In Kandal Province, Cambodia, a legal awareness forum was held to combat online child sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Ms. Srorn Sreyneng, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province, stated that online child sexual exploitation and human trafficking are heinous crimes that destroy the future of children and the nation's human resources, and that everyone must work together to prevent and eradicate them. The statement was made during a legal awareness forum on combating human trafficking and protecting children from online sexual abuse, held in Leuk Daek district on the afternoon of July 20, 2026. Ms. Srorn Sreyneng further explained that the Kandal Provincial Committee for the Fight Against Human Trafficking organized the forum to broaden understanding among local officials, youth, and citizens about the dangers of human trafficking, methods of self-protection from exploitation and online sexual abuse of children, and the high risks associated with illegal and dangerous migration. Regarding the challenges of dangerous migration, Ms. Srorn Sreyneng appealed to all citizens to obtain accurate information and migrate through legal channels to avoid falling into the trap of labor exploitation and human trafficking. She urged the authorities in Leuk Daek district to continue to pay close attention to security and order, and especially to continue disseminating these laws to every household and school to ensure the safety and well-being of children and citizens in the entire locality, in line with the "Safe Village-Commune" policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia. Concurrently, during the forum, officials from relevant ministries and specialized police forces provided detailed presentations on the cunning tricks and various forms of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, measures to protect children and youth from seduction and abuse through various social networks (such as Facebook, TikTok, Telegram, etc.), as well as the consequences and dangers caused by dangerous migration.
