AYEYARWADDY TIMES June 30 The military, in collaboration with the DKBA and BGF, has launched another large-scale offensive since June 20 to regain control of Min Lapan and Phlu villages in the southern part of Myawaddy, Karen State, according to Karen military sources. It is said that the joint force consists of approximately 100 soldiers from the DKBA's Bo Bi group, approximately 200 soldiers from the BGF's Bo Mot Son group, and the military. The objective is to recapture the old camp located between Min Lapan and Phlu Gyi villages and to control Phlu Lay Hill (Ta Kaw Kyaw). It is known that the DKBA was persuaded with the incentive of being given the Min Lapan area. "We have also heard that they are trying to surround and block the way to Min Lapan with a large number of forces. Another thing we heard is that they are blocking each other to regain Phyu Sansu. The situation is complicated," a Karen military source told the Irrawaddy Times. Currently, as the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) allied forces are resisting, the military and allied forces cannot advance, and on June 29, heavy artillery fire support was provided by the 275th Battalion stationed in Myawaddy. The military launched an offensive with three columns against the villages in October 2025, but it was unsuccessful. Currently, the military is also suffering losses at the Waw Lay strategic base, and if this renewed offensive fails again, Myawaddy city itself could fall into the hands of the revolutionary forces, a military source analyzed. Military analysts say that the military is using DKBA and BGF splinter groups on the front lines by offering them territory, as they cannot advance with their own battalion strength, indicating a significant depletion of the military's ground infantry forces. In June, there were also requests from the military to the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) to return Phyu Sansu town, located on the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State. Since the second week of June, approximately 300 military personnel have arrived in the area known locally as Mujadit, near Phyu Sansu town, via the Khaingsegyi-Phyu Sansu road, according to local residents.
