Thai National Arrested in Poipet Shooting Incident Involving Fellow Thai Nationals

A shooting incident involving two Thai nationals occurred in Poipet city, Cambodia, near the Thai border, resulting in the death of one man. Cambodian national police have arrested one Thai suspect and confiscated two firearms the following day. The incident took place on July 28, 2026, around 3:17 AM in Samaki Mean Chey village, O Chrov commune, Poipet city. The victim, identified as JUSUWAN THONGCHAI, a 33-year-old Thai national, was shot and killed by two unidentified assailants while riding a motorcycle. The perpetrators fled the scene on a motorcycle after the crime. Following the incident, under the direct orders of General S. Teth, Commander-in-Chief of the National Police, and under the command of Major General Neng Chu, Chief of the Department of Criminal Police, along with the leadership of Colonel Hun Monnyrath, Colonel Haem Bona, and Colonel Chan Kimly, an investigation was launched. This led to the identification and location of the suspects. On July 29, 2026, at approximately 6:20 PM, a Thai national, identified as Porawat Thong Hmon, 26, was apprehended in Samaki Mean Chey village, O Chrov commune, Poipet city.
