Vietnam Emphasizes Highway Safety During National Day Holiday

On September 1st, the fourth day of the National Day (September 2nd) holiday in Vietnam, 46 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 22 deaths and 34 injuries, according to the Traffic Police Department. During traffic enforcement on expressways, highway patrol and control teams inspected 1,852 vehicles and detected 164 violations. These included 62 instances of driver's license point deductions, the seizure of 2 vehicles, and the issuance of 702 violation notices. Notably, no violations related to "failure to maintain safe following distances from the vehicle ahead on expressways" were recorded on September 1st. Under Vietnam's one-party system, national stability and economic growth are top priorities, and ensuring traffic safety is considered part of maintaining social order. The increase in vehicles and infrastructure development accompanying economic growth can exacerbate the risk of traffic accidents. Authorities have therefore intensified traffic safety measures during the holiday period.
