Cambodian Prime Minister Donates Ferries and Fuel for Flood Season Transport

Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has donated two ferries, fuel, and food to facilitate the transportation of residents and students across rivers in Sandan district, Kampong Cham province, during the flood season. On the afternoon of September 20, 2026, Major General Som Son, Commander of the Kampong Thom Military Operations Zone, along with colleagues, delivered fuel, food, and supplies as donations from Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, Dr. Pich Chanmony. These were received through General Mao Sopha, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, who also heads the government's working group for Sandan district in Kampong Thom province. The donations were presented to commune authorities and two ferry operators responsible for transporting citizens and students across the Sen River in Meanchey and Khleng communes, Sandan district, Kampong Cham province. Major General Som Son stated that in the past, to ease the travel of residents and students crossing the Sen River during the rainy season in Meanchey and Khleng communes, Prime Minister Hun Manet donated two ferries through His Excellency Nuon Pharat, Governor of Kampong Cham province. Furthermore, Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife continue to donate food and fuel every rainy season through General Mao Sopha to ensure safe and timely transportation for citizens and students. During the event, Major General Som Son advised the two ferry operators to pay close attention to maintaining the equipment and technical aspects properly to ensure long-term usability for serving the public. Mr. Keo Phia, First Deputy Commune Chief and representative of Mr. Soth Thoeun, Chairman of the Meanchey Commune Council, expressed profound gratitude to Prime Minister Hun Manet and his wife, through His Excellency Nuon Pharat, Governor of Kampong Cham province, for the donation of two ferries. He also extended thanks to General Mao Sopha, head of the government's working group for Sandan district, for the continuous support of fuel and food, which ensures the transportation of residents across the Sen River in Meanchey and Khleng communes, both in the past and present.
