Vietnam, Israel Explore Enhanced Cooperation in Cybersecurity, AI, and Innovation

Vietnamese Ambassador to Israel, Nguyen Ky Son, has held a series of working sessions with Israeli counterparts to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and innovation. The ambassador engaged in discussions with leaders from the Israeli Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT), operating under the Israel National Cyber Directorate (INCD), the Be’er Sheva Innovation District, and the cyber security research centre at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU). These engagements underscore Vietnam's keen interest in leveraging Israel's advanced expertise and technology to bolster its cybersecurity capabilities and drive advancements in cutting-edge technology sectors. Israel is globally recognized as a leader in cybersecurity, and its technological prowess and experience are of significant interest to Vietnam. The country is particularly keen to learn from Israel's strategies in national-level cyber attack response and the development of innovation ecosystems. The discussions align with Vietnam's strategic objective to enhance its resilience against cyber threats amidst its ongoing economic growth and to deepen international collaboration in emerging technological fields like AI and innovation. Under its one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic development and actively seeks foreign technology and investment. The importance of cybersecurity is escalating, especially considering Vietnam's extensive border with China and its involvement in regional issues like the South China Sea. Cooperation with Israel can be viewed as part of Vietnam's efforts to pursue its national interests, taking into account these geopolitical contexts.
