UWSA repatriates 26 Chinese nationals via border gate

Mekong, September 22 The United Wa State Army (UWSA) announced yesterday that it has repatriated 26 Chinese nationals who illegally entered the Wa region, sending them back to China via a border gate. According to the UWSA's statement, these illegal Chinese entrants registered themselves at a designated location of their own volition, and the UWSA has officially repatriated them to China. On September 14, the UWSA also handed over 30 illegal Chinese entrants to the Chinese police through a border gate. Furthermore, on August 26, the UWSA repatriated 72 Chinese nationals who had been apprehended to China. The UWSA has been repatriating Chinese nationals who illegally enter the Wa region back to China, and has already repatriated 1,371 illegal Chinese entrants by 2026. According to the UWSA, over 88,826 Chinese nationals who illegally entered the Wa region have been repatriated to China by the UWSA from 2020 to 2026. The UWSA continues to keep open a channel for Chinese nationals without legal documents to register for repatriation, and is also intensifying efforts to encourage the return of illegal Chinese entrants. The statement indicated that illegal Chinese entrants wishing to return home will, after registering at a designated location, be safely transported by UWSA personnel to the China-Myanmar border gate the following day and handed over to the Chinese police.
