Cambodian Foreign Minister Meets Malaysian Prime Minister, Discusses Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Stability

KUALA LUMPUR – On the afternoon of August 3, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim. This was part of his official visit to co-chair the 3rd Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) between Cambodia and Malaysia, held in Kuala Lumpur. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn conveyed the warmest regards and special wishes from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in anticipation of his upcoming birthday. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his profound gratitude for Malaysia's active role in maintaining long-term peace and stability in the region, particularly in the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute, through the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord and the establishment of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT). With both Cambodia and Malaysia set to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2027, Cambodia stands ready to cooperate closely with Malaysia to further strengthen their partnership and contribute to ASEAN's peace, stability, and prosperity.
