Hardest hit are the villages of Ngingir, Mimbalawag, Piksan and Inoma. “This declaration allows the immediate mobilization of resources and emergency assistance for affected communities,” Benito said in a statement. “We urge everyone to remain vigilant, avoid landslide-prone areas, and follow the advisories of the MDRRMO and Barangay Officials,” he told his constituents. Calanogas has a population of about 15,000 living in 19 villages. So far, seven dead bodies, including those of two children, have been recovered from the landslide area in Barangay Ngingir and search operation is continuing for four other missing persons amid light to moderate rains on Saturday. Benito said the Calanogas portion of the Malabang-Marawi City highway remained impassable due to tons of mud, rocks, and debris that blocked the road network. Public works personnel continue clearing operations that were repeatedly interrupted by heavy downpour. Based on drone footage taken by the Ministry of Public Works in the Bangsamoro Region, approximately 15 separate landslide sites were identified in Barangays Inoma, Kalilangang, and Ngingir in Calanogas. Barangay Ngingir was assessed as the most severely affected area. It was in this village that seven dead bodies, including two children, were recovered on Friday and Saturday.
