1 Dead, Key Drug Peddler Arrested in P3.1M Lanao Sur Buy-Bust

Police operatives in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) seized at least P3.1 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested a key drug peddler, while his armed cohort was fatally wounded during a buy-bust operation in Lanao del Sur on Friday afternoon. According to Brig. Gen. Christopher Abecia, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, the operation took place in the town of Masiu, Lanao del Sur. Operatives confiscated approximately 500 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P3.1 million from the suspects. The arrested individual was identified as a major drug peddler in the area. During the attempt to arrest the suspects, the cohort reportedly resisted and fired at the police operatives, prompting them to retaliate. The cohort sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Police also recovered an additional 10 grams of shabu and two firearms from the arrested peddler. The operation is part of the ongoing efforts of the police to curb illegal drug activities in the BARMM region.
