Cambodia Brings Job Opportunities "Home" to Thma Bang District

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has organized an event in Thma Bang District, Koh Kong Province, bringing nearly 1,000 job opportunities, social security benefits (B.S.S.), and vocational training (TVET) programs directly to the local community. Approximately 500 residents, particularly former migrant workers returning from Thailand and young job seekers, attended the event held at Ruesi Chrum High School on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Speaking under the theme "Khmer Helps Find Jobs and Provides Jobs for Khmer," Pan Nora, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, stated that the government, with the Ministry of Labour as its key arm, consistently prioritizes improving citizens' livelihoods and boosting the national economy through job creation. He noted that over 90,000 job openings are currently available nationwide in enterprises, companies, and factories, allowing individuals to register, interview, and secure employment immediately. Nora emphasized that this initiative brings job opportunities "home to the doorstep, to the community." Beyond wages and various benefits, individuals can also receive advantages from B.S.S. and live with their families. This contrasts with overseas employment, which often entails risks to safety, labor exploitation, inadequate health protection, discrimination, and living far from family. Furthermore, young people can enroll for free in numerous skills training courses through the TVET 1.5 Million program at the Koh Kong Provincial Polytechnic Institute, which boasts qualified instructors and modern learning facilities. Upon completion, graduates can find better employment or start their own businesses. For former migrant workers with construction skills, the ministry also facilitates Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) tests, enabling them to obtain official skill certificates, which can lead to higher incomes. In addition to domestic opportunities, the ministry continues to offer safe and well-compensated overseas employment options. Nora encouraged attendees to spread the word about these job opportunities, B.S.S. benefits, and TVET programs.
