Pailin Province Partners with Australian NGO to Reduce Maternal and Infant Mortality

Pailin Province Governor Dr. Ban Sreymom met with Mr. Kevin Taylor, Founder and CEO of the NGO 'Every Mum' from Australia, on September 16, 2026. Mr. Taylor reported on the organization's activities aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality and ensuring the safety of mothers and newborns during pregnancy and childbirth within the province. According to Mr. Taylor, 'Every Mum' is a charitable organization that has been actively working in Cambodia for over 25 years with a global mission to reduce and eliminate maternal and infant deaths. Its core activities include training and capacity building for midwives and healthcare workers in communities, providing medical equipment and necessary supplies, notably ultrasound machines, to remote health centers, and conducting community education campaigns to promote and encourage pregnant women to receive regular antenatal care at local health centers. Governor Dr. Ban Sreymom warmly welcomed Mr. Taylor and highly appreciated the efforts of 'Every Mum' in promoting the healthcare sector in Pailin Province, particularly in reducing and eliminating preventable maternal and infant deaths during pregnancy and childbirth. She affirmed that the provincial administration is ready to provide full cooperation for all projects to ensure that maternal and infant health goals are met with high effectiveness. Governor Dr. Ban Sreymom further emphasized that the 7th mandate government, led by Prime Minister Dr. Hun Manet, prioritizes partnerships in the health sector as a crucial task under the 'Pentagon Strategy Phase 1' (specifically Pillar 1, Objective 3 concerning human resource development), aiming to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC). It is noted that 'Every Mum' has been active in Cambodia, closely collaborating with national and provincial health departments (such as the Pailin, Ratanakiri, and Mondulkiri Provincial Departments of Health) to expand ultrasound services and improve the quality of maternal healthcare.
