A Community Health Worker (Short Course) training, organized by the Department of Public Health, commenced on July 17 at the Mawlamyine General Hospital in Mawlamyine Township, Kayin State, and will be conducted for two weeks until July 30, it has been learned. This training is part of the health sector's activities under the government's 100-day plan, and it is being conducted with the aim of disseminating health-related knowledge among the public, according to Daw San San Htwe, the Township Health Officer of Mawlamyine. "This is being carried out nationwide simultaneously, led by the Department of Health. Knowledge is being passed down sequentially to health workers from various departments. Those who attend will gain much knowledge as they learn about what diseases are, why they occur, and how to prevent them. The training will continue until July 30," said Daw San San Htwe, the Township Health Officer of Mawlamyine. Twenty-six trainees from civil society organizations within Mawlamyine District are attending the training. The training period is 14 days, and health staff from Mawlamyine General Hospital will be providing the instruction, it has been learned. It is understood that the training will primarily cover knowledge about dengue fever, which is prone to spread among the public, HIV infection, and essential information regarding common infectious diseases. Daw San San Htwe, the Township Health Officer of Mawlamyine, also stated that after the current training period concludes, civil society organizations and trainees will need to continue their efforts to widely disseminate the health knowledge taught in the course to the public, under the guidance of the Department of Health.
