AI Summary

Vietnam and Türkiye are aiming to boost economic, trade, and investment ties, targeting a bilateral trade turnover of US$4 billion. Vietnamese food producers, in particular, see Türkiye as a key gateway to the global Halal market, anticipating expanded export opportunities.

Ho Chi Minh City is seeing the Halal market as a promising avenue for businesses. With its well-developed manufacturing, trade, and service ecosystem and dynamic business community, the city is well-positioned to strengthen its role in regional and global Halal supply chains. Experts at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on December 18 noted that the Middle East and Türkiye are not only promising export destinations but also key gateways for Vietnamese products to access the global Halal market. Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that economic, trade, and investment ties should serve as key pillars of the relationship. They agreed to create favorable conditions to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$4 billion, while continuing to encourage Turkish enterprises to invest in Vietnam and contribute to its economic development. Vietnam has been increasing its economic growth and presence in international trade in recent years, particularly focusing on leveraging free trade agreements (FTAs) and attracting investment in manufacturing and technology sectors. The focus on the Halal market is seen as part of this economic growth strategy. Under its one-party system, the government leads economic policy, driving export expansion and foreign investment attraction as national goals. Strengthening ties with Türkiye is considered strategically significant for establishing a foothold in European and Middle Eastern markets.
