Cambodia Senate to Convene Extraordinary Session on July 29, 2026, to Approve International Treaties and Agreements

The Cambodian Senate is scheduled to convene an extraordinary session on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 8:00 AM at the Senate Palace. The meeting will address six key agenda items proposed by the Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information. Central to the agenda are several treaties and agreements aimed at enhancing international economic cooperation and trade facilitation. Specifically, the Senate will review and decide on a draft law to approve the Kingdom of Cambodia's accession to the International Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment and its Protocol concerning Specific Cases of Aircraft Equipment. This move is expected to bolster Cambodia's credibility in international financial transactions and attract foreign investment. Furthermore, multiple agreements promoting mutual recognition within the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region will be deliberated. These include the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Mutual Recognition Arrangements for Building and Construction Materials, and the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Type Approval for Automotive Products. These agreements are anticipated to lower trade barriers within ASEAN and ease market access for Cambodian businesses.
