Thai Deputy Education Minister Visits Impoverished Students' Homes to Assess Needs

Thai Deputy Education Minister Akaranan Kanittanant continued his fieldwork following the mobile cabinet meeting in Songkhla province. Accompanied by officials from the Skol (Department for the Promotion of Lifelong Learning), he immediately visited the homes of impoverished students who lack funds for school supplies. The visit aimed to listen directly to the problems and living conditions of the students and their families. Mr. Akaranan stated that this field visit is a proactive effort by the Ministry of Education to obtain direct facts from the ground. He emphasized that to solve educational inequality, it is essential to truly understand the lives and contexts of each child's family. "Even after the mobile cabinet meeting, our mission is not over. It is important to translate what we have discussed and heard from the field into action. Especially regarding education, we must go to their homes, see the real problems, and listen to the voices of the children and their families ourselves," the Deputy Minister stressed. He further reiterated that every child should have equal educational opportunities, regardless of their family's financial status or limitations. Relevant agencies must jointly find appropriate ways to provide assistance in terms of learning, living conditions, and factors that may hinder education. He added that education should not be a reason for any child to lose opportunities simply due to their family's financial constraints, and that early intervention is crucial to prevent poverty from causing children to drop out of school or leave the education system. This visit to the homes of impoverished students is part of the drive to reduce educational inequality, aiming to ensure that assistance reaches students and families who genuinely need it.
