British Artist Showcases Vietnam's Daily Life and Nature in Exhibition

British artist John Lester is holding an exhibition in Hanoi featuring his works depicting Vietnam's daily life and majestic nature. The exhibition, running from the 2nd to the 8th at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, showcases works that celebrate the scenery, people, and culture of Vietnam, which Lester has been painting for 12 years. Lester presents works on diverse themes, including red sails in Ha Long Bay, the majestic mountains of Sapa, and young Vietnamese women wearing helmets and masks. His depiction of characters, where smiles are perceived even through masks, demonstrates his deep insight into Vietnam. Many of his works also portray women in traditional attire and their daily lives, celebrating the beauty of Vietnamese women. Lester's fascination with Vietnam was sparked by his marriage to a Vietnamese woman he met in London. Through his wife's stories, his interest in Vietnam deepened, leading him to visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2009, and also experience life in rural areas. Although he currently lives in the UK, he is considering relocating to Vietnam in the future. At the exhibition, works such as "Stroll by the Lake," depicting a young woman walking by Hoan Kiem Lake, and "Girl in the Lotus Field," showing a woman in a lotus paddy, are attracting attention. Some of these works are accompanied by poems that Lester has written, expressing his love for Vietnamese culture and nature. Born into a family where both parents were painters and art lecturers, Lester cultivated his passion for painting from a young age. He creates art in two main styles: "Traditional" and "Color and Movement." He has held numerous exhibitions, including solo shows, in the UK, USA, and France. He is also accomplished in poetry, having published short story collections and poetry books.
