President Prabowo Directs IDR 49 Billion for Solok City North Ring Road Construction

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has directed an allocation of IDR 49 billion for the resumption of the North Ring Road (Jalan Lingkar Utara) construction in Solok City, West Sumatra. This initiative is part of the "Inpres Jalan Daerah" (Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads) program. The announcement was made by Andre Rosiade, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the House of Representatives and a member of the Gerindra Party, during a site visit to the North Ring Road section in front of the KAN Laing Office, Solok City, on Friday (September 18, 2026). He was accompanied by Solok Mayor Ramadhani Kirana Putra, Deputy Mayor Suryadi Nurdal, Solok Regent Jon Firman Pandu, and Head of BPJN West Sumatra Elsa Putra Friandi. Mr. Rosiade stated that the construction would begin with one lane, approximately 2.5 kilometers in length. Based on information from BPJN West Sumatra, the tender process is targeted for October 2026, with work scheduled to commence at the latest by November 2026. Alhamdulillah, the efforts of the Solok City Government have succeeded, with the Central Government, through Inpres Jalan Daerah, allocating IDR 49 billion to commence the first phase of the Solok City North Ring Road construction," said Mr. Rosiade in a statement received on Friday (September 18, 2026). According to Mr. Rosiade, the construction of the North Ring Road is a testament to the central government's commitment under President Prabowo's leadership to drive regional economic growth. He described the project as a long-awaited development gift for the people of Solok City. "This is a commitment from President Prabowo's government, presenting a development that has been dreamed of by the people of Solok City and the Solok City Government. President Prabowo is giving the best gift, a development gift through Inpres Jalan Daerah for the Solok City North Ring Road to the people of Solok City," he added. Mr. Rosiade explained that this year's construction is the initial phase. Other lanes will be expedited for completion through Inpres Jalan Daerah in 2027. "Thus, the construction will be carried out in stages until the North Ring Road connectivity can function optimally. God willing, we will complete the other side through Inpres Jalan Daerah in 2027," he said. Solok Mayor Ramadhani Kirana Putra expressed his appreciation to Mr. Rosiade for the planned construction. He mentioned that the North Ring Road has a total length of approximately 8.4 kilometers, with the current phase of work covering about 2.5 kilometers and requiring an estimated IDR 83 billion to complete. "This year, the Ministry of Public Works, through the Presidential Instruction for Regional Roads, has allocated IDR 49 billion 900 million. We hope the technical implementation, planned for tender in October 2026, will proceed smoothly," said Mr. Ramadhani. Mr. Ramadhani further stated that the road section has been a concern for the community as its construction has been halted since 2012. Meanwhile, Head of BPJN West Sumatra Elsa Putra Friandi explained that the work will undergo a vendor selection process and is planned to use a multi-year scheme. The project is targeted to commence by November 2026 at the latest and be completed around June 2027. Ms. Friandi noted that the ultimate requirement for the North Ring Road is four lanes. However, due to budget limitations under Inpres Jalan Daerah, the current development will proceed with two lanes or one carriageway. Mr. Rosiade reiterated that the construction's significance extends beyond the physical road, focusing on the benefits that will emerge once the access is connected.
