Groups Seek Probe, Review of Subic Freeport Development After Landslide

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A coalition of environmental and community groups has petitioned Malacañang, seeking an independent probe into the fatal landslide at the Tipo High-Tech Eco Park in the Subic Bay Freeport and a broader review of major development projects in the area. The Save Subic Bay Coalition, composed of residents and environmental advocates, submitted their petition on Tuesday (Sept. 1). The landslide incident has brought to the forefront concerns regarding safety measures in rapidly developing areas.
