Palace 'saddened' by students' heckling of Marcos in Davao

Malacañang on Thursday expressed sadness over an incident in Davao where several students allegedly shouted expletives at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his visit. The incident, captured on video, has since gone viral. The Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Davao has issued an apology for the "inappropriate behavior" displayed by some of the students. The DepEd said that the four students involved are already undergoing disciplinary measures. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro stated, "Young people will not learn the right behavior if their idolized leaders and those around them are without any manners, or foul-mouthed, or would pray for harm to fall on others. It is only sad that this happened in schools. This shows what they are learning in schools, in homes, and in their surroundings." "Let us bring back decency to our country. We should not allow our children to be neglected," Castro added. While the DepEd did not specify which incident they reprimanded the Davao student for, a video went viral online wherein students could be seen cursing the president as he boarded his helicopter.
