Ho Chi Minh City Sees No Traffic Congestion on Final Holiday Day, Cat Lai Port Faces Crowds

On the final day of Vietnam's National Day holiday (September 2), major entry and exit points of Ho Chi Minh City experienced no significant traffic congestion. This is attributed to many residents having already returned to the city a day prior. However, at the Cat Lai ferry terminal area, traffic volume of vehicles heading towards Ho Chi Minh City from the Dong Nai province direction saw a sudden surge, leading to ferries operating at full capacity. Congestion began to occur around 3 PM on Lý Thái Tổ street in Dong Nai, as a large number of people returned to Ho Chi Minh City after the holiday. Cars formed queues stretching over 2 kilometers, with motorcycles also backing up as they waited for their turn. According to a representative from the Cat Lai ferry management unit, an estimated 48,000 passengers were expected to use the ferry on September 2, a significant increase of nearly 10,000 people compared to a normal day. Approximately 2,200 cars were anticipated, which caused delays in boarding arrangements. To meet the high travel demand, Cat Lai Port deployed its maximum of seven ferries, with capacities ranging from 60 to 200 tons, operating around 480 trips between the two banks to clear passengers and vehicles.
