Group Assault After Warning Over Loud Karaoke in Vietnam

In Buon Ho City, Central Highlands' Dak Lak Province, a man was subjected to group assault after warning a party about loud karaoke noise. The incident came to light on September 4 as the Buon Ho City Police began investigating the actions of those involved. According to initial investigations, on the evening of September 2, 31-year-old Nguyen Hoang Vuong visited a durian warehouse on Hung Vuong Street with a friend. There, he encountered a group of over 10 people drinking and singing karaoke, whom he approached to address the noise. During the conversation, a conflict arose between the two parties. Huynh Tran Nhat Trung, 24, from Dong Nai City, punched Vuong in the face. Subsequently, while the warehouse owner was speaking with Vuong at the front, Vuong reportedly hit the owner in the face. Witnessing this, Trung and three other workers at the warehouse grabbed plastic chairs and chased after Vuong, assaulting him. Vuong sustained minor soft tissue injuries and is currently under observation at the Tay Nguyen Regional General Hospital. The scuffle was captured on a civilian's surveillance camera. This incident underscores the potential for noise disturbances in Vietnamese society to escalate into violent confrontations. Particularly in public spaces or residential areas, excessive noise frequently becomes a source of friction among residents. With increasing urbanization and housing density driven by economic growth, addressing such issues is becoming more crucial.
