Car Bomb Blast in Narathiwat, No Casualties Reported

A car bomb blast occurred in Dusongyo subdistrict, Chanae district, of Thailand's southern Narathiwat province on the evening of August 4, with local media Amarin TV reporting no injuries. The explosion, which happened around 6:45 p.m., damaged the vehicle. Following the blast, police, military, and local authorities secured the area. Explosive Ordnance Disposal and forensic teams were dispatched to investigate, gather evidence, and apprehend the perpetrators. The public has been advised to avoid the area and stay informed through official announcements. This incident is the latest in a series of attacks in the region. Late last month, a car bomb at Narathiwat’s old Tanyong police station on July 21 slightly injured one official. The next day, an attack on a checkpoint by insurgents disguised as security personnel resulted in the deaths of five rangers and injuries to six civilians. Earlier on August 4, at 11:40 a.m., two assailants dressed as Muslim women on a motorcycle slowed down in front of the Excise Department Office in Pattani and opened fire, injuring a 21-year-old woman. She was hit by two M16 rifle shots to her right chest and was taken to Mayo Hospital, later transferred to Pattani Hospital. Eleven M16 shell casings were found at the scene. The injured woman had been brought to the office to pay a fine for a contraband cigarette case. Officials noted that she was sitting in the front office when the assailants opened fire.
