Saigon Shipmarin Successfully Launches 9,000m³ Oil Tanker

On the afternoon of September 11, in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Shipmarin Company Limited (Saigon Shipmarin, a member unit of Shipbuilding Industry Corporation - SBIC) successfully launched the oil tanker SAI GON SEA with a capacity of 9,000m³. The SAI GON SEA is the first large oil tanker to be newly built in the southern region. The vessel was invested by HPC Marine Equipment Joint Stock Company, designed by Hoang Gia Marine Design Joint Stock Company, and classified and supervised by Registration Branch No. 6 (Vietnam Register). It operates on unrestricted sea routes and meets the highest requirements of the National Technical Regulation QCVN 21:2015/BGTVT. The ship has a steel hull structure, double bottom, and double hull. It is nearly 120 meters long, 17.6 meters wide, 9 meters high, with a draft of 6.78 meters. Its gross registered tonnage is 5,255 GT, with a full load deadweight of 7,990 tons. The main engine has a capacity of 2,427 kW, and the vessel is manned by a crew of 20. Mr. Duong Manh Cuong, General Director of Saigon Shipmarin, affirmed that the launch of the SAI GON SEA oil tanker holds special significance as the company enters a new phase. Despite the difficulties and challenges of restructuring, the enterprise is gradually seeking and exploiting opportunities, maintaining employment, and leveraging its facilities, technical team, and experience accumulated over many years in shipbuilding. "From the success of SAI GON SEA, the company has gained more confidence and motivation to implement new projects, not only completing ships but also preserving the craft, retaining personnel, maintaining shipbuilding capacity, and building a new position for the enterprise in the maritime economic development chain. Furthermore, it helps the unit maintain its core capabilities, create opportunities to consolidate capacity, enhance prestige with customers and partners, and gradually expand the market," emphasized Mr. Duong Manh Cuong. Once SAI GON SEA is completed and handed over to the owner, it will contribute to supplementing the capacity of the national maritime transport fleet, serving the demand for oil and petroleum product transportation, and contributing to the development of the maritime transport industry in particular and the national economy in general.
