Ca Mau Province Addresses Bottlenecks in Hospital Projects to Enhance Healthcare Infrastructure
Ca Mau Province is strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Health to resolve delays in the construction of a 1,200-bed general hospital and a maternity and pediatric hospital. The move aims to improve healthcare infrastructure quality and expand medical services for local residents.
Ca Mau Province in southern Vietnam is focusing on resolving issues in the construction projects of a 1,200-bed general hospital and a maternity and pediatric hospital. On August 1, after a site inspection of these projects, the Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee announced that discussions were held with the Ministry of Health's Permanent Deputy Minister Vu Manh Ha and his delegation regarding the healthcare system after provincial integration. These discussions aim to strengthen regional healthcare infrastructure and improve the capacity to provide medical services to residents. Ca Mau Province is actively paying attention to education and healthcare in ethnic minority areas and is committed to resolving "bottlenecks" to promote investment flow. Furthermore, it plans to conduct the third round of free health screenings for the entire population in 2026 and is striving to expand the social security net. Specifically, it is identifying challenges in the primary healthcare system and working to resolve them. Additionally, through collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City, it aims to enhance the quality of public health management. Under Vietnam's one-party system, regional development significantly relies on central government planning and local government execution. Investment in healthcare infrastructure is essential for improving public health and social stability, and the government prioritizes it as a key area. Rectifying healthcare disparities, especially in rural areas, is a crucial task for broadly distributing the benefits of economic growth to all citizens. While balancing economic independence and security in its relationship with China, Vietnam is promoting domestic infrastructure development. These hospital construction projects can be seen as part of this national strategy.
