Vietnam Celebrates National Day with Tributes and Development Focus

Hanoi is adorned with colorful billboards, posters, banners and national flags, creating a festive atmosphere of pride and celebration across the capital ahead of the 81st National Day. Vietnam has been undertaking various activities both domestically and internationally to mark this significant occasion. In France, the Vietnamese Embassy held an event to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam sent a congratulatory message to the King of Malaysia on the occasion of the country’s National Day. Domestically, economic growth was highlighted. The Ambassador noted that after four decades of Doi moi (Renewal), Vietnam has made significant achievements, becoming a dynamic economy with a GDP of $514 billion by 2025, economic growth of 8.02%, total trade turnover of $930 billion, and more than $38.4 billion in registered foreign direct investment (FDI). Digital transformation is also a key theme. With digital transformation reducing the importance of geographical distance, it was noted that the key is to build stable, long-term channels that allow overseas Vietnamese to put their knowledge, experience and international networks to work for Vietnam's development. With the strong legal foundations that Vietnam has established and continues to strengthen, the determined efforts of law enforcement forces to clean up cyberspace, and the close support of international organizations such as UNICEF, Vietnam can be confident in building a civilized digital environment where every child can learn, play, and reach their full potential in safety. Meanwhile, efforts to ensure citizen safety are progressing. The Prime Minister asked the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee to direct relevant agencies and units to pool all available personnel and provide the best possible medical care and medicines for the injured in a passenger vehicle rollover, minimize loss of life and property, and support the injured and families of the deceased. Reports indicate that two Vietnamese nationals are missing following flash floods and landslides that struck northern Nepal on August 26, according to a notice from the Nepal Tourism Board. Infrastructure development is also advancing. Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang said that projects are important to gradually reorganizing the national railway network through Hanoi while ensuring consistency with the city’s transport infrastructure and urban development plans.
