Air pollution caused by haze increases health risks, particularly for the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing respiratory conditions. Betong Hospital is experiencing an increase in patients complaining of symptoms such as cough, sore throat, and shortness of breath, straining hospital resources. The Thai government is collaborating with neighboring countries to implement measures to control fires and prevent the spread of haze, though the effectiveness of these measures may be limited due to the widespread nature of the impact.
